Jun 24, 2025As part of the 70th anniversary celebrations of Chapais, the public is invited to attend the traditional Soapbox Derby. The event will feature original costumes, homemade vehicles, participation prizes, and a festive atmosphere.

Festival du doré

The Festival du Doré brings together anglers of all ages for a friendly walleye fishing tournament and a weekend of cultural festivities. Jul 19, 2025The City of Chapais will celebrate its 70th anniversary with a day of fun and friendly competition at the Terrain de balle et stationnement du Centre sportif de Chapais, featuring softball, cornhole, and horseshoe tournaments.

Festival Folifrets Baie-James
Feb 2 - Mar 7, 2026A ten-day winter festival in Chibougamau, Quebec, celebrating over 50 years of tradition. The Folifrets Baie-James Festival brings the entire city to life with exciting programming and two major events that draw attention across Canada: the “Randonnée du Président”, and the Cross-Country, a high-endurance race for recreational runners from across Quebec.

National Indigenous Junior Hockey Championship
Sponsorship Jun 9, 2025An annual event that brings together Indigenous junior hockey athletes from across the country to compete for the national title. The championships are open to male and female division players aged 16-20 (U20) and are an opportunity for players to showcase their skills and for the Indigenous hockey community to come together and celebrate their achievements.

Science on tourne 32e édition - finale locale
Sponsorship Mar 27, 2025The 32nd local edition of the “Science, on tourne!” challenge took place at the Centre d’études collégiales à Chibougamau, where students were tasked with building a wind-powered autonomous vehicle to travel the furthest distance. Designed to spark creativity and promote interest in science and engineering, the event saw the winning student team, “Spoutnik,” earn a $500 bursary and qualify for the national finals in Québec City this May.

Advisory Committee Meeting
Consultation Mar 12, 2025The advisory committee is composed of cree stakeholders that are implicated in the Troilus project and desire more in-depth information on the advancement of the new Troilus project as well as information on the restoration and monitoring practices and results of the past operation. The committee is meant to be inclusive and as such there are no limitations on who can assist. The advisory committee members are included in the mailing list of the monthly summary of operations so that they can stay up to date on the project and can communicate any needs to troilus so that this information can be presented in more detail.
